NATO Warns Iran It Is Ready to Defend Its Members
Amid Iranian threats to target certain European territories if U.S. President Donald Trump further escalates the ongoing war, NATO has warned Iran that the Alliance is prepared to respond to any threat and defend all of its members.
A NATO official told Reuters on Wednesday that the Alliance’s deterrence and defense posture remains strong and effective.
“As demonstrated earlier this year, when NATO air defenses successfully intercepted ballistic missiles heading toward Türkiye from Iran on four occasions, our deterrence and defense posture is strong and effective,” the official said.
The warning comes as tensions between Iran, the United States and Europe continue to rise, raising concerns over the possibility of the conflict expanding beyond the Middle East.
