It’s been two years since one of the most extraordinary intelligence operations attributed to Israel in which they took out one of the world’s billionaires, who became rich off the backs of American and European taxpayers.
He also happened to be responsible for the deaths of thousands of Jews.
On July 31st, 2024, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh traveled to Tehran as an honored guest of the Iranian regime to attend the inauguration of Iran’s new president.
He was staying in what was supposed to be one of the most secure IRGC guesthouses in the country.
It didn’t matter.
The operation had been in the works for weeks or even months.
Rather than using a missile or airstrike, an explosive device had been secretly planted inside the guesthouse long before Haniyeh arrived.
Once Israeli intelligence confirmed he was in his room, the device was remotely detonated with remarkable precision, killing Haniyeh while limiting damage to the surrounding area.
On August 2nd the target was confirmed gone.
Beyond eliminating one of Hamas’s most senior leaders, the strike sent an unmistakable message.
Even in the heart of Tehran, under the protection of the IRGC, Israel’s intelligence capabilities were believed to be able to reach their target.
Two years later, it is still remembered as one of the boldest and most sophisticated intelligence operations of the modern era.
Israel is one of the only countries still around willing to defend humanity.
