NEVERS MUMBA HEAPS PRAISE ON HH AND HIS LEADERSHIP.
Opposition Movement for Multi Party Democracy MMD president Dr. Nevers Mumba says the UPND government under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema must be praised in the manner in which it has reigned over the affairs of the country.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka Wednesday morning, Dr. Mumba says president Hichilema’s sytle of leadership is giving hope to the nation.
He says unlike the Patriotic Front who reigned with terror and vindictiveness in its first 60 days of assuming office in 2011, the UPND has taken a path of healing and uniting the nation.
Dr. Mumba says in 2011 the PF immediately after winning the elections, opted to hound out MMD officials in government like dogs but the opposite is happening with the UPND.
The MMD leader says the UPND government has allowed the PF to continue serving in their various positions even when there are loud cries from its members to get rid of them.
He says it is clear that President Hichilema is changing the template of governance for the better for the good of everyone.
Dr. Mumba further says President Hichilema is indeed raising the bar of leadership high saying unlike in the past when MMD leaders got arrested, they would spend weeks in detention without being taken to court or issued with either a police bond or bail from the courts, while the UPND leadership has so far ensured that everyone accused of anything is treated with the ultimost diginity while respecting the rule of law.
Meanwhile Dr. Mumba has announced that his party has entered into a partnership with the UPND government in fostering good governance and promotion of tenents of good governance.
He explains that the working relationship has been agreed upon by the two parties arising from a meeting held between president Hichilema and Dr. Mumba himself.
Dr. Mumba has since urged president Hichilema to expeditiously deal with the cancer of corruption among PF officials saying giving them to much chance is giving them an opportunity to destroy evidence.
He says the fight against corruption should not in any way be perceived as retribution but as a way of ensuring that, that which belongs to the Zambian people is recovered.
The MMD leader has meanwhile expressed shock that the PF are complaining that they are being oppressed by the UPND when the reality is that they are actually being treated like Sunday School pupils in a class.
Dr. Mumba says the PF instead of complaining must actually be thanking the UPND for guaranteeing them safety. -Munati TV
