🔥 NKANDU LUO SPARKS OUTRAGE WITH CALL TO PERMANENTLY SHUT DOWN UNZA

Former minister Nkandu Luo has ignited fierce backlash after declaring that the University of Zambia (UNZA) “must be closed forever,” insisting she had made similar recommendations during her time in government under the PF.

Speaking in a visibly frustrated tone, Luo described UNZA students as “ungrateful,” defending her past decision to scrap their meal allowances. She argued that the country was wasting resources on students—funds she believes must go to paying allowances for ministers, etc.

Her remarks have quickly stirred controversy, with critics questioning both the tone and implications of her statements, as debate intensifies over the future of the country’s flagship university.

  1. I have always said this man is dangerous when it comes to this university, he has a bone to chew with the university, never ever bring him near power, he’ll do education bad

  2. No please no need to close UNZA let us just renovate it.The oldest university in the world still operating in 2026 is the University of al-Qarawiyyin in Fez, Morocco founded in 859 AD, it is recognized by Guinness World Records and UNESCO as the world’s oldest continually operating, degree-granting higher educational institution
    • University of al-Qarawiyyin (Morocco): Remains active in 2026, offering programs in Islamic studies, Sharia law, and Arabic theology. It continues to use traditional teaching methods, such as students seated in semi-circles around a sheikh, while also functioning as a modern state university.
    • University of Bologna (Italy): Also fully operational in 2026, with active calls for applications for the 2026/2027 academic year. Founded in 1088 AD, it is considered the oldest university in the “Western world” and the first to use the term universitas.
    • University of Oxford (UK): Continues to operate as one of the world’s leading research institutions in 2026. Teaching evidence dates back to 1096 AD, making it the oldest in the English-speaking world.
The University of Zambia (UNZA) was officially opened on July 12, 1966, in Lusaka which is simply too new why closing it sure madam?

  3. Did she really say that? Or it is a case of fake news? If she did, then it is a total lack of social intelligence on her part.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if she actually uttered these words. She is just being herself.
