NO NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WHILE MUNDUBILE, MAKEBI ZULU REMAIN INCARCERATED – DAVIES MWILA

BM8/ECL national chairperson Davies Mwila says calls for national unity and reconciliation will remain doubtful as long as opposition figures Brian Mundubile,  Makebi Zulu and others remain incarcerated.

Mr Mwila was responding to President Hakainde Hichilema’s call for National unity following the conclusion of the elections.

He said genuine reconciliation must begin with the release of those political opponents who are allegedly being given tramped up charges.

“You will recall Mr President that when you were detained at Mukobeko, there was no reconciliation until you were released by government. We hope that this reconciliation must be started by government,” he said.

He said the country is currently divded and urged the President to bring all political players together in the interest of national unity.

“The entire country is divided, and when it is divided, you cannot rule in a normal way. What we call for is that bring everybody together and reconcile so that we come together as one Zambia, one nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwila has insisted that a commission of inquiry be set up to look into the death of former Cabinet Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya.

He said he expected the President to talk about this matter involving a former Govermment official.

“We still insist that an independent commission of inquiry be established so that Zambian people be able to know what transpired,” he said.

And Mr Mwila had expressed concern over the government’s decision to do away with 18th October as the day of National Prayer without giving any  satisfactory explanation.

“Government has resolved to shift the date of prayers from October 18 to December without giving any proper reasons.. we thought that the word of God comes first and these others come second. We feel Matters of faith should be given priority,” he said.

  1. Mr Mwila, national reconciliation does not just involve PF and govt. It is everyone. Those you are mentioning in detention is called justice. Let them go through the process. If they are guilty of the offences they have been given, justice would apply not reconciliation.
As for the rest of you, repent, stop the holigalism and inciting. Mundubile claimed victory and immediately the cadres rushed to get or reclaim markets. That was a serious indication of where we could have gone back to.
Get a life, apologise, reconcile to the govt programme. That is what is means not releasing those who break the law.
On the call for an international inquiry, be careful what you are asking. An inquiry into any death always takes place if it is not natural death. This is by law even before you so called demand. That is called posturing. How does one reconcile with people who insist on being right even when they are doing wrong things?
You flopped right in your home place? Have you sat down to why? Start reconciling those reasons first

  2. It is obvious that the split is between the winners and losers of the 2026 election: that’s how every competition ends.

Mwila needs reconciliation with himself and his grouping. He does not need HH or the government to do that. Stop throwing words at the wall and hoping something sticks to your advantage. Kamofye tukamilisishe ingoma elyo mukeshiba ati namukula?

  3. What Mr. Mwila should be talking about is expediting the process of bringing Mr. Mundubile’s case to trial instead of reconcilliation. Even the issue of Mr. Kafwaya’s death will be part of the court process. There is no need for an independent commission.

PF actively sowed divisions among our people. Divide and rule was a key PF governance policy hence the divisions we are witnessing. PF have yet to accept that they were soundly trounced in 2021 and again in 2026.

These “PF” people are such hypocrites.

  4. Even after HH’s release there was no reconciliation. So currently it reconciling who and who? National unity yes, but reconciling, on what?
