North Korea Fires Around 10 Ballistic Missiles After Possible Trump–Kim Meeting
North Korea reportedly launched around 10 short-range ballistic missiles from the Pyongyang area, hours after US President Donald Trump raised the possibility of another meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The launches underscore the persistent tensions on the Korean Peninsula despite renewed diplomatic signals from Washington.
South Korean officials estimate that North Korea could possess between 80 and 120 nuclear weapons, while Trump has cited a figure of 57. Meanwhile, Kim Jong-un’s sister, Kim Yo-jong, said she was unaware of any recent communication between her brother and the US president.
China is also seeking to encourage a resumption of dialogue between Washington, Seoul and Pyongyang, as concerns grow that North Korea’s advancing missile and nuclear capabilities could further destabilize the region.
The latest launches highlight the difficult balance between diplomatic outreach and continued military pressure as the possibility of renewed Trump–Kim engagement remains uncertain.
