By Nelson Zulu

The opposition National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity-NRPUP-has begun the process of selecting candidates for proportional representation after the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ-allocated it 16 seats at National Assembly level and 11 at local government level.

NRPUP Secretary General Nonde Mubanga says the party is ready to submit the names of its candidates following the ECZ’s confirmation of the number of seats allocated under the proportional representation system.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Mubanga explained that the ECZ communicated the allocation within the first seven days as provided for under the Electoral Process Act.

He said political parties are now within the subsequent seven-day period to submit names of candidates to fill the allocated proportional representation seats.
