NRPUP YOUTHS DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY OVER THE PR LIST
We, the youths and members of NRPUP who sacrificed, mobilised, campaigned and worked tirelessly to sell this party and the candidature of our flag bearer, President Brian Mundubile, are deeply disappointed and angry over the Proportional Representation (PR) list that has been submitted.
We cannot remain silent while the sacrifices of ordinary members are seemingly being ignored.
Where are the youths and women who spent months on the ground? Where are the people who knocked on doors, mobilised voters, defended the party and stood behind President Brian Mundubile throughout the campaign?
If our contribution was important enough to generate votes for this party, then our voices must also be respected when decisions concerning representation are made.
We therefore call upon NRPUP President Ezra Tembo and the Secretary General to man up and account to the membership.
We demand clear answers:
Who prepared the PR list?
Who approved it?
What criteria were used?
Were provincial structures consulted?
Were the youths and women who worked tirelessly for the party considered?
And who takes responsibility for the final list submitted?
These are not unreasonable questions. They are questions from members who worked for this party and helped generate the votes upon which its representation is based.
The party does not win elections because of the names sitting in offices. It wins because of the people who go into communities, mobilise voters and defend the party on the ground.
As someone who participated in the election both as a candidate and as a youth, I refuse to be silent on matters affecting the party, its membership and our flag bearer.
My votes, together with the votes mobilised by our campaign teams, contributed to NRPUP’s electoral performance. Therefore, I have every right to demand accountability concerning decisions affecting the party and those who sacrificed for it.
We call upon all provincial, district, constituency and ward leaders to speak out.
Do not watch silently while the concerns of the grassroots are ignored.
We must also remember that President Brian Mundubile is currently in prison. At such a difficult moment, the responsibility of the party leadership should be to demonstrate solidarity with the President and the entire team facing incarceration—not to allow internal decisions to divide and demoralise the very people who stood with the party.
This is not about begging for positions. It is about fairness, transparency, accountability and respect for the people who built this movement.
We will not be intimidated into silence.
We demand answers.
We demand transparency.
We demand accountability.
We demand respect for the youths, women and grassroots members who worked for NRPUP.
NRPUP cannot become a party where decisions affecting everyone are made by a few while the membership is expected to remain silent.
We worked for this party.
We campaigned for this party.
We mobilised for this party.
We generated votes for this party.
And we have a right to be heard.
