OPPOSITION LEADERS CONCEDE AND CONGRATULATE HICHILEMA ON VICTORY
Four opposition presidential candidates who took part in the 2026 General Election have conceded defeat and congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election, in a show of unity following the poll.
Organised People’s Party (OPP) candidate Dr Brian Mushimba said Zambians had spoken and that he fully respected their decision. In a statement to ZNBC News, Dr Mushimba wished the President wisdom, strength and courage as he takes up the responsibility of leading the country for the next five years.
Democratic Union Party President Ackim Njobvu described the President’s victory as a win for every patriotic Zambian. He called on President Hichilema to continue working to unite the country and to govern in the interest of all citizens, regardless of political affiliation.
Leadership Movement President Dr Richard Silumbe also congratulated the President on what he termed a landslide victory. Dr Silumbe took the opportunity to thank the Zambians who had placed their trust in him and voted for him during the election.
New Focus Party (NFP) candidate Richwell Siamunene likewise extended his congratulations to President Hichilema, adding his voice to the growing number of contenders who have accepted the outcome gracefully.
