UNITED STATES: Outrage in Mississippi Over Viral Judge Claim and Attorney’s Logo
Ridgeland, MS is pushing back after viral posts claimed a local immigration attorney had been appointed as Mississippi’s “first Yemeni-American Muslim hijabi municipal court judge.”
City officials say that’s not true.
What we know:
Assma A. Ali is a real Ridgeland immigration attorney. She represents clients in Immigration Court, USCIS, and ICE, and has worked with foreign officials.
Her firm logo features crossed scimitars under her name. Critics online say it closely resembles the Muslim Brotherhood’s crossed swords emblem.
Around Aug 6, social media posts celebrated her as a new judge. Those posts have since been deleted.
Ridgeland officials and aldermen deny any appointment. She does NOT appear in the 2026 state judiciary directory or city minutes.
She has previously lobbied Gov. Tate Reeves and Mississippi did issue an Arab American Heritage Month proclamation.
The claim that friends may have spread misinformation to boost her profile is now circulating widely, but no official investigation has been announced.
