Palestinian UN Envoy Riyad Mansour Breaks Down While Recounting Doctor’s Family Tragedy
Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, broke down in tears while speaking about the case of Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a Palestinian pediatrician who lost nine of her 10 children in an Israeli strike.
“This is a horror and a trauma that are beyond comprehension, beyond what the heart can endure,” Mansour said.
According to the account presented by Mansour, Dr. Alaa al-Najjar was working at a hospital when her home was struck. She later saw the bodies of nine of her 10 children brought to the hospital, with some reportedly suffering severe burns.
Her husband, Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar, who was also a physician, died several days later from injuries sustained in the attack
The account was raised by Mansour during his remarks at the United Nations as he highlighted the human impact of the war in Gaza.
