PANJI KAUNDA DOUBTS MUNDUBILE CAN SECURE 1.2 MILLION VOTES IN THE GENERAL ELECTIONS.
Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi, Lt. Col. (Rtd) Panji Kaunda, says he doubts Toonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile can secure even 1.2 million votes in the upcoming general elections.
Lt. Col. (Rtd) Kaunda said there is nothing inspiring about Mr. Mundubile that would convince Zambians to vote for him.
The son of Zambia’s First Republican President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, said Mr. Mundubile is unlikely to reach the 1.2 million vote mark in this year’s general elections.
He further predicted that Mr. Mundubile will lose the August 13 general election to President Hakainde Hichilema.
Speaking in a sit-down interview with Zambian Watch News, Lt. Col. (Rtd) Kaunda asked, “What exactly is Brian Mundubile’s message to the Zambian people?”
“You cannot just wake up and say, ‘Today this group of people is supporting me, so I can become President of the country.’ You cannot take over the country before the system accepts you.”
“When I look at Mr. Brian Mundubile, what exactly is his message of hope to the Zambian people today? Truth be told, Mr. Mundubile will struggle to get even 1.2 million votes in these general elections. There will be hype because it is election time, but the reality is that President Hakainde Hichilema will win by a landslide,” he said.
Asked whether he would like to continue serving as High Commissioner to Malawi despite his age, Lt. Col. (Rtd) Kaunda responded:
“Who wouldn’t want to continue serving under this administration and representing my country in this capacity? We will continue working for the Zambian people together with President Hakainde Hichilema,” he said.
Lt. Col. (Rtd) Panji Kaunda is the first-born child of Zambia’s founding President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, and currently serves as Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi under the UPND administration.
