PF SALUTES ITS OFFICIALS AND MEMBERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Below is the Statement:

Tuesday 14th March, 2023

I would like to convey my gratitude and congratulations to Members of the Central Committee, Members of Parliament, Provincial, District and Constituency officials of the Patriotic Front for the outstanding leadership that you exhibited during the commemoration of Women’s and Youth Days. You have proved beyond the doubts and wishes of the naysayers that, the Patriotic Front is alive, united and remains the most formidable political force on the ground. This is the kind of unity, commitment and leadership that will help propel our Party back to power, come 2026.

On the other hand, we sincerely regret the incidences of violence that were championed by the UPND against our innocent and defenceless youths on Youth Day in Kitwe and Kasama. We strongly condemn those savage acts of violence and we challenge President Hakainde Hichilema to ACT and bring the perpetrators of violence to justice. As a Party and Republican President, the onus is on Mr Hichilema to stop his rhetoric against cadreism and prove that he means what he says by decisively stamping out all forms of violence being perpetrated by his own cadres.

We also wish to make a clarion call to the Zambia Police to arrest, charge and prosecute the violent UPND cadres; this will send a clear signal to would be offenders that violence and threats of violence have no place in our democratic dispensation.

Further, we wish to strongly condemn the barbaric and uncouth behaviour exhibited by UPND youths who barred PF youths from entering the official venues for youth commemorations in certain places such as Kitwe and Kasama. This was totally uncalled for and it shows just how undemocratic and intolerant UPND is towards their political opponents.

We want to assure our youths countrywide that your strong participation in large numbers has sent shivers down the spines of our detractors. Do not be discouraged, do not lose faith; remember it is darkest before dawn.

Our common destiny is to bring back sanity in the country and to ensure that Zambia continues to be a multiparty state in which every Zambian is free to participate in its governance. If we in PF don’t lead in providing checks and balances, chances are that Zambia will degenerate in to a one party state. We fought for plural politics and we should not allow the UPND to drag us back to the pre-independence era of autocracy and dictatorship.

May God bless Zambia.

Issued by;
Hon Given LUBINDA
Vice President
Patriotic Front
