Poland Finalizes Talks to Transfer MiG-29 Jets to Ukraine in Exchange for Drone Technology
UKRAINE–POLAND: Poland is reportedly finalizing negotiations to transfer additional MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine under a proposed arrangement that would see Warsaw receive Ukrainian drone technology and expertise in electronic warfare in return.
The potential deal would deepen military-technical cooperation between the two neighboring countries as Ukraine continues to strengthen its air capabilities amid the ongoing war with Russia.
Under the reported arrangement, Ukraine would gain additional Soviet-designed fighter aircraft, while Poland would benefit from Kyiv’s rapidly developing experience in unmanned systems, battlefield drones and electronic warfare.
If finalized, the agreement would represent a shift toward a more reciprocal model of military cooperation, combining Poland’s existing aircraft stocks with Ukraine’s battlefield-developed expertise in drone warfare and electronic countermeasures.
The reported negotiations are ongoing, and the final number of MiG-29 aircraft and terms of the exchange have not been publicly confirmed.
