POLAND LAUNCHES PREVENTIVE SECURITY OPERATION ALONG BORDER WITH RUSSIA’S KALININGRAD EXCLAVE
Poland has reportedly launched a special preventive security operation along its borders with Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave following intelligence warnings about potential sabotage attempts and possible incursions by armed groups in the coming days.
The operation primarily targets the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, which borders Kaliningrad, as well as the Podlaskie region in northeastern Poland.
Polish Police Commander-in-Chief Marek Boroń is overseeing the operation, which involves significant reinforcements from regional police units, elite counterterrorism forces, border guards and the Polish armed forces.
According to reports by UNITED24 Media and Anadolu Agency, the operation follows warnings from Poland’s Military Intelligence Service (SWW) and allied intelligence agencies.
Authorities have reportedly placed strategic infrastructure under heightened surveillance. No armed incursion or related security incident has been reported so far.
The mobilisation comes amid growing concerns in Poland over alleged Russian-linked hybrid threats, sabotage activities and attempts to destabilise the country.
