Police are studying Edgar Lungu’s statement that “People will rise”. Meanwhile, PF predict that ECL will be charged with treason

February 27,2024-In response to recent events at Kabwata police station, we wish to emphasize that a police station is a protected place by law, and any misconduct within its premises will not be tolerated.

Today, the actions taken by Kabwata police were in accordance with the law. Mr. Nakachinda was released after due process, while those unlawfully camping at Kabwata were rightfully arrested. Notably, the arrest of Mr. Emmanuel Mwamba and three others was executed lawfully.

The police managed to confiscate three drums used by an unruly crowd, and these will serve as crucial evidence. A police station is not a playground for disorderly conduct, and individuals engaging in illegal activities within its confines are liable to be arrested.

Furthermore, the statement made by the Former Head of State, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, indicating that “People will rise,” is under careful scrutiny. The implications of such a statement is being assessed, and appropriate legal actions may be taken.

We reiterate the importance of respecting the law and maintaining order, emphasizing that a police station is not a venue for disruptive behavior. The police are committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

  1. Akanwa kala letelela!
A man over 60 years who cannot control his emotions and who does not choose their words carefully is a serious danger not only to himself but society as well!
What kind of Lawyer is ECL who is not careful with what he says?
To suggest that a Democratically elected president should be removed from office is high treason!
    Is this man smoking weed?
This is the same man who was reported to be funding Rebels in Rwanda! How can he not do that anywhere else including Zambia given that he is half Malawian?
    Boma iyanganepo!

  2. The big man doesn’t have advisers. In the first place he should have just retired from active politics because politics can be very stressful, now at his age it may bring some blood pressure. Now even issuing statements that may suggest anarchy. The big man thinks his immunity can be extended from what he has.In America Trump was told by the court that his immunity can not stop him from prosecution when he commits crime.

  3. It is unheard of to hear a former president praying for anarchy? Bakakumanga ati democratic space is shrinking…apa peve even me a non aligned can see danger in this former president.

  4. Mr. Lungu assumed the presidency of the PF in 2015 through violence. At their convention in Kabwe, he was “voted” in as PF president through waving of pangas and fists. His goons rigged both the 2015 and 2016 elections. During his rule we had the Delta Force and NATO Forces (sic) harassing innocent citizens. Mr. Lungu is familiar with violence, it is his trade mark.

When he announced his “comeback” to politics (he actually never left), he said that he will use any means to organize and if he is stopped, God help us. Now he has gone a little bit further and clarified his stand. He is willing to organize the overthrow of the legitimately installed government. This is the kind of selfish person we are dealing with and he should not backtrack by saying he was misquoted or misunderstood. He vocalized his thoughts in plain language.

The elections are in just over two years” time. If he is so confident about UKWA’s chances of winning, then he should exercise patience and ascend to power legitimately.

We reject violence for whatever reason. We had very valid reasons to resort to violence under Mr. Lungu’s despotic rule but we held our peace and showed him the door through lawful means – elections.

Mr. Lungu thinks he is above the law. We need to watch him very carefully and if need be, deal with him firmly.
