POLICE DETAIN NRPUP COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON OVER DAMAGED HOUSE DOOR

By ZR Reporter

Lumezi Town Council Chairperson Dawson Tembo has been detained after a woman accused him of trespassing at her home and damaging her door.

The 56-year-old politician, who represents the New Revolution Party United Progressive (NRPUP), was taken into police custody on Friday following a complaint made four days earlier at Lumezi Police Post.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba said the complainant, Delia Nyirenda, 20, from Kapilitiwa Village under Chief Zumwanda, reported that Tembo had entered her premises without permission and damaged the door.

Police allege that Tembo, a resident of Mpeta Village in Lumezi District, had been evading arrest since the complaint was lodged on October 19, 2026.

He is expected to appear in court as police continue handling the matter.
The allegations have yet to be tested in court, and further details about what allegedly led to the confrontation have not been disclosed.
