PRESS STATEMENT
SUDDEN DEATH
August 2, 2026 – The Zambia Police Service regrets to confirm the sudden death of Constable Mumbuna Namakando of Kabwata Police Station. He collapsed while on duty near Lewanika Mall along Mosi-O-Tunya Road on July 31, 2026, around 22:00 hours, in circumstances yet to be established.
He was rushed to Chilenje Level I Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body has been taken to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The Zambia Police Service extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Constable Namakando.
