PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA CALLS FOR ACTION AGAINST THOSE SPREADING WHAT HE DESCRIBES AS FALSE ‘WHITE GENOCIDE’ CLAIMS, WARNING THAT MISINFORMATION AND DIVISIVE RHETORIC COULD HARM SOCIAL COHESION AND NATIONAL UNITY IN SOUTH AFRICA

President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for stronger action against individuals and groups spreading what he described as false claims of a “white genocide” in South Africa. He warned that misinformation and inflammatory rhetoric could deepen divisions and damage efforts to build a united nation.

The President said South Africans should focus on addressing crime and other national challenges through facts and constructive engagement rather than narratives that may fuel racial tensions. His remarks have sparked debate, with supporters backing his call against misinformation while critics argue that concerns about crime and safety should continue to be openly discussed.

The comments come amid ongoing discussions about violent crime, farm attacks and race relations in South Africa, issues that continue to attract attention both locally and internationally.

Do you agree that stronger action should be taken against the spread of misinformation, or should all viewpoints be allowed in public debate? 
