President Hakainde Hichilema has issued a strong call to action to mining license holders, urging them to move beyond speculation and actively develop their tenements to transform the nation’s mineral wealth into tangible jobs and better lives for Zambians.
Speaking today at the Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka, the President outlined his administration’s vision for the sector under the “Grow Zambia Agenda,” emphasizing that the time for talk is over and the time for production is now.
“Where bureaucracy obstructs progress, investors must tell Government so we can address these barriers together,” President Hichilema stated. He further urged stakeholders to “resolve disputes through dialogue, let us mine in the ground, not in court.”
The President highlighted the need for a modernized mining sector, calling on investors to bring the best available technology to maximize production, transfer skills to the local workforce, and expand local processing capabilities.
To support these goals, President Hichilema emphasized the importance of a “common, predictable regional operating environment,” which he said would support these efforts and deliver shared prosperity.
The President’s remarks signal a decisive shift toward ensuring that Zambia’s natural resources are fully utilized to drive economic growth and improve the livelihoods of its citizens.
