PRESIDENT HICHILEMA THANKS ZAMBIANS, PLEDGES UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT
President Hakainde Hichilema has thanked Zambians for re-electing him and pledged to devote his energies to delivering meaningful development across the country.
President Hichilema said the election had demonstrated Zambia’s commitment to peace, democracy and the rule of law, noting that citizens had settled their differences through the ballot box.
He said his campaign had taken him to all 116 districts, where he witnessed first-hand the challenges facing citizens in cities, compounds, villages and farming communities.
“This election showed the world who we are: a nation of peace, a nation of law and order, a democratic nation that settles our differences at the ballot box, and nowhere else,” President Hichilema said.
He assured citizens who supported opposition parties that his administration would continue working to ensure every Zambian benefited from national development.
“To those citizens who preferred the ideas presented by our opponents, we hear you, and we will continue to work for you,” he said.
President Hichilema said he was particularly inspired by the children he encountered during the campaign and pledged to build a better Zambia for future generations.
“As we return to work as your servant, we carry with us the memories of the children we met throughout the campaign,” he said.
The President said his administration would now focus on development, progress, peace and prosperity.
“Now we must work harder than ever before to deliver meaningful development for every single Zambian,” Mr Hichilema said.
He called for unity and cooperation, saying the country’s future depended on citizens working together.
“Indeed, we will devote all our energies to development and progress, strengthened by unity, cooperation and our shared purpose as one nation,” he said.
