PRESIDENT HICHILEMA URGES VOTERS TO ELECT UPND CANDIDATES FROM PRESIDENT TO COUNCILOR

By Justina Matandiko

President Hakainde Hichilema has urged voters to give the UPND a complete set of candidates from President to councilor, saying fragmented voting could make it difficult for his administration to deliver its manifesto.

Speaking on a ZNBC special interview as campaigns officially close at 18:00hrs today, President Hichilema argues that the different levels of government are woven together and should therefore be voted for as one

Mr. Hichilema said his administration needs support across all levels of government to effectively implement its next 5-year development agenda.

The Head of State said voting in this manner, Zambians will allow the UPND administration to build on economic gains recorded in the last 5 years, including increased production, lower inflation, expanded electricity generation and job creation.

Meanwhile, President Hichilema has warned political players against violence ahead of tomorrow’s election and recalled the bloodshed, tear gas and political tension that characterized the 2021 polls.

He said those planning to disrupt polling stations or engage in violence will be dealt with according to the law, emphasizing that elections should be a competition to serve citizens and not a battle between political enemies.
