HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Chief Liteta of the Lenje speaking people of Chibombo district in Central Province has commended President Lungu for his commitment and style of leadership that seeks to improve the livelihoods of all Zambians.
Chief Liteta said Lungu has demonstrated commitment to duty in his tenure as Head of State which has seen many lives being transformed for the better. The Chief has vowed to campaign flat out for Lungu and ensure that what he termed as greedy opposition leaders don’t win a single seat in his Chiefdom.
Chief Liteta accused opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and all his Councillors and Members of Parliament of being greedy and visionless, he said that during the time the chiefdom has been voting for UPND the area has suffered terribly such that Mr. Hichilema and his MPs and Councillors don’t even bother to visit the voters. The Chief said that the worst thing he learnt about was that HH had actually banned his Councillors and MPs from lobbying the Governemnt for any development projects meanwhile they refuse to spend their allowances and salaries or indeed any donor goodwill to bring any meaningful projects to his people!
Speaking when Joseph Malanji paid a courtesy call on him yesterday, Chief Liteta said he was not ashamed to align himself with other traditional leaders who are supporting President Lungu for his development agenda he had rolled out across the country.
“I have heard and seen for myself that President Lungu has done miracles in this country. His performances and commitment have been excellent,” Chief Liteta said.
He said the UPND was a terrible let down under HH whom he accused of being very bad hearted. The Chief said within his Chiefdom were many relatives of HH and they too were suffering as though he was not a billionaire, but look at his MPs, they are receiving gratuity, driving land cruisers and Range Rovers but not even one single borehole or maternity shelter have they brought for the people who voted for them.
The traditional leader has also called for unity and tolerance among political parties in the spirit of One Zambia One Nation as the country heads to the polls on August 12.
“Zambia is a Christian nation but some of the things that happen in this country are not inspiring. So I am begging you that when you want to share something with the people of Zambia, please do so in a fair and transparent manner to avoid bringing confusion,” Chief Luteta advised.
And Hon Malanji has thanked the traditional leadership for forming the base of the One Zambia One Nation motto saying which has helped in finding the nation together through regional integration.
He said any Zambian citizen was entitled to settle anywhere in the country regardless of their tribal or regional background.
Malanji has however bemoaned that some regions in the country had the tendency of electing people who had no interest of the masses at heart hence the regions had lagged behind in terms of development.
“In terms of governance, there is so much lack of representation where people just put someone in employment to go to Parliament and get a salary and not delivering services required for the people that sent him to Parliament,” Hon Malanji said.
He stated that time had come for people to elect individuals who were going to mean well for the people of Constituencies who are the electorates.
Malanji told the traditional leader that the PF had already put in place someone who was adopted by the party and was confident that he was going to win favor from the electorates and become a Member of Parliament who would be equal to the task and deliver accordingly.
