PRESIDENT TSHISEKEDI DROPS COBALT BOMBSHELL: CONGO, HOME OF 70% OF THE WORLD’S COBALT, WILL PERMANENTLY BAN ANY EXPORTER THAT BREAKS THE NEW QUOTA SYSTEM.
Africa is taking control of its own wealth!
The Democratic Republic of Congo produces over 70% of the world’s cobalt, a key metal for batteries, smartphones and modern technology.
President Félix Tshisekedi has warned that any exporter who violates the new cobalt quota system will face permanent exclusion from Congo’s cobalt regime.
The move aims to curb fraud, stabilise prices and give Congo real influence over a strategic market.
After Congo paused exports in February 2025 when prices hit a 9-year low, cobalt prices rebounded by 92% according to the president.
The message is clear: Africa’s resources must serve Africa’s development first.
The world is watching as Congo and Africa show that the continent holds the cards.
