Putin Praises Russia North Korea Ties, Honors Korean Troops for Support
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed the strength of Russia’s bilateral relationship with North Korea (DPRK), praising the close partnership between the two countries and expressing gratitude to the North Korean leadership and its people.
In a statement released by the Kremlin, Putin said Russia deeply values its longstanding ties with the DPRK and thanked the country for what he described as its support during the Second World War.
The Russian president also paid tribute to North Korean military personnel who, according to the Kremlin, assisted Russian forces and were later awarded Russian state honors in recognition of their service.
“Russia will never forget the service of the Korean military personnel who assisted our forces,” Putin said, emphasizing that their contribution would remain part of the shared history between the two nations.
Putin’s remarks come as military and diplomatic cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang continues to deepen amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and growing international scrutiny of the two countries’ expanding strategic partnership.
The statement underscores Russia’s commitment to strengthening relations with North Korea, which has become an increasingly important political and security partner for Moscow in recent years.
