“PUTIN WILL NOT STOP UNLESS HE IS STOPPED” — KAJA KALLAS

“Putin will not stop unless he is stopped.”

That was Kaja Kallas’s warning to the European Parliament after 48 hours in which Russia’s increasingly reckless behavior was felt across Europe.

A Russian warship fired signal flares toward a Danish military helicopter. NATO fighters shot down a drone over Lithuania. Russia struck a passenger train close to Ukraine’s border with Poland, while Polish authorities recovered another drone from their waters.

“These are not accidents,” Kallas said. “They are calculated attempts by Russia to weaken our resolve, test our unity and play with fears of escalation.”

This is how Moscow applies pressure: through incidents calibrated to frighten governments without immediately provoking a collective military response. Each event can be disputed or dismissed in isolation, but together they reveal an expanding pattern of intimidation, hybrid warfare and deliberate risk-taking.

Kallas made clear that Europe will not reduce its support for Ukraine as Russia escalates. Instead, Moscow must face greater pressure and greater consequences.

Ukraine has warned the world for years that appeasing Russian aggression only encourages the next escalation. Europe is now experiencing that lesson directly.
