Ramaphosa appoints Gwede Mantashe as acting police minister
President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Mineral and Petroleum Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe as Acting Minister of Police, effective immediately.
Mantashe will hold the post until Professor Firoz Cachalia assumes the role in early August.
The temporary appointment comes as the police ministry faces mounting pressure over serious allegations implicating senior officials.
