RED WAVE HITS THE TIP OF THE SPEAR: REPUBLICANS FLIP GUAM GOVERNORSHIP AND TAKE LEGISLATURE

President Trump just highlighted a major early win on election day. Republicans have flipped the governorship of Guam, a U.S. territory long treated as solidly Democrat, and they are on track for a majority in the legislature.

Unofficial results show Republican Vicente “Tony” Ada and running mate Edward Calvo defeating Democrats Therese Terlaje and Sabina Perez by 1,020 votes. Ada-Calvo took 15,945 votes (51.45 percent) to Terlaje-Perez’s 14,925 (48.15 percent). The Democrat incumbent, Lou Leon Guerrero, was term-limited. Ada is a longtime legislator, U.S. Army veteran, and businessman who has emphasized securing Guam’s role as America’s westernmost defense outpost while focusing on local jobs and federal partnerships.

Trump’s statement put it plainly: Guam “has always been considered strongly Democrat” but produced “an early call for a REPUBLICAN Victory in the top spot, Governor.” He congratulated Tony Ada and noted that Republicans also hold the majority in the territorial legislature. “Wow, hopefully that’s an indication for things to come,” he said.

Republicans occupied eight of the top 15 spots in the legislature races, putting them in position for a narrow majority in the incoming session. Democrats did hold the non-voting delegate seat to Congress, but the executive flip and legislative edge mark a clear shift after years of Democrat control at Adelup.

Guam does not cast electoral votes for president, yet the territory sits at the front line of U.S. interests in the Pacific. The results arrived as polls and exit surveys had suggested a closer or even Democrat-leaning night. Instead, voters delivered a Republican governor and a legislature majority. Trump used the moment to urge Republicans across the country to turn out in force for the rest of the day.

The numbers remain unofficial pending final certification, but the margin and the concession from the Democrat ticket make the outcome clear. For those watching early signals, Guam delivered one of the first clear red flips of the cycle.
