REPORTS: U.S. COULD CONSIDER USING THE “MOTHER OF ALL BOMBS” IN IRAN

Allegations are circulating that the United States could be considering the use of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) in Iran.

Despite its nickname, the “Mother of All Bombs” is not a nuclear weapon. It is a massive, GPS-guided, air-dropped conventional bomb designed to produce an enormous blast over a wide area.

The MOAB weighs approximately 21,600 pounds (9.8 tonnes) and is among the largest conventional bombs ever deployed by the U.S. military.

If such a weapon were used against Iran, it would represent a dramatic escalation and could have significant military and geopolitical consequences.

Some commentators argue that deploying the MOAB could be intended to force an adversary to capitulate without resorting to nuclear weapons. However, the weapon’s use would carry serious risks, including further escalation and potential retaliation.

My perspective:
The idea that the MOAB would automatically force Iran to surrender is far from certain. A weapon of this magnitude could demonstrate overwhelming military power but it could also deepen the conflict and make escalation even harder to control.

And if the “Mother of All Bombs” isn’t enough, what exactly comes next? 

Note: Claims that the U.S. is planning to use a MOAB against Iran should be treated as unconfirmed unless backed by credible official or independent sources.
