RESIGNATION AS A PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE FOR MANDEVU CONSTITUENCY UNDER THE LEADERSHIP MOVEMENT PARTY

My fellow citizens of Mandevu and the people of Zambia, greetings to you all.
After deep prayer, consultation with family, community leaders and stakeholders in Mandevu, I have made a decision regarding my political path going into the Mandevu parliamentary by-election.
Leadership to me has always meant putting the welfare of the people first.
The Word of God guides us in Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.”
I wish to state clearly that Dr. Richard Silumbe, President of the Leadership Movement Party, is a great man and a visionary leader. The Leadership Movement Party is a wonderful party founded on principles of integrity, service and national development. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity, the trust and the mentorship I received during my time in the party.
However, after careful reflection and in the interest of accelerated development for Mandevu Constituency, I have concluded that aligning with the ruling party at this time will better position Mandevu to access resources, programs and infrastructure needed for our people. This decision is therefore made in the spirit of service to the community.
Guided by the scripture above, I hereby wish to announce the following:
1. I am resigning from the Leadership Movement Party with immediate effect
2. I am resigning from my position as National Mobilisation Chairperson of the Leadership Movement Party
3. I am resigning from my position as a Parliamentary Candidate for Mandevu Constituency under the Leadership Movement Party
Furthermore, in order to align with the national development roadmap, the Grow Zambia Agenda, and to better serve the people of Mandevu:
4. I am defecting to the ruling party and
5. I am endorsing the UPND Mandevu Constituency Candidate Mr. Adrian Banda as the preferred candidate for the parliamentary seat in the forthcoming by-election.
My decision is not about abandoning the people of Mandevu. It is about ensuring that Mandevu has a strong voice where national decisions are made so that we can attract more development, jobs and opportunities for our community.
I extend my sincere gratitude to all the people of Mandevu, party members, supporters and stakeholders, who believed in me and who were geared to vote for me. Your faith, encouragement and support will forever be cherished and will continue to inspire my commitment to public service.
I remain committed to serving the people of Mandevu with integrity, humility and dedication.
