RICHARD KAPITA GETS EMMOTIONAL AT MUFUMBWE RALLY , RECALLS MUFUMBWE KILLINGS, ASKS MUNDUBILE TO PROBE
MUFUMBWE, August 1, 2026 – Veteran politician Richard Kapita has appealed to NRP-UP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile to institute an independent investigation into the killings that occurred during the government’s operation to clear illegal miners from Mufumbwe Gold Mine.
Speaking before thousands of supporters at a Tonse Pamodzi Alliance campaign rally in Mufumbwe on Saturday afternoon, Kapita said the people of North-Western Province were still grieving over the loss of lives and deserved to know the truth about what happened.
Kapita, a former North-Western Province Minister and former Vice President of the United Party for National Development (UPND), became emotional as he addressed the gathering, saying justice for the victims should be among the priorities of a new administration.

This is always the language for failures, Kapita is a failure, you go to Mwinilunga with him, he won’t be able to point at anything he did there and yet he was an MP for many years. He even became the Provincial Minister when he defected to PF, but nothing came out of him. What can he tell us now? The best he can do is just to shut up. No shame, always moving from one party to another but doing nothing. Meaningful Zambians know that kikonge gold mine was full of hundreds and thousands of foreigners and some of them were dangerously armed threading national security. So for the government to think of deploying the Army tells you that the situation was bad and was getting out of hand. Those foreigners were robbing our country of its wealth everyday at the expense of Zambians. Is such a situation good to Kapita and Mundubile? Is that what they want to bring back? That’s why most Zambians don’t take them seriously, they know that they have nothing to offer. Mundubile will not win any election, there is no change coming because Zambians want to continue with Bally and his good policies.
