Russia Could Replace Up to 20,000 Soldiers with North Korean Troops at the Border

A Ukrainian military spokesperson says Russia could deploy North Korean troops to its border regions, potentially freeing up to 20,000 Russian soldiers for the most active sectors of the front in Ukraine.

The claim comes after President Volodymyr Zelensky said North Korea could send between 30,000 and 50,000 troops to Russia.

Ukraine says Russia is suffering significant battlefield losses and may be seeking to reinforce its manpower without launching another nationwide mobilization.

If deployed to Russia’s border regions, North Korean forces could reportedly take over support and security roles, allowing Russian troops to be transferred to frontline combat operations in Ukraine.
