Russia Deploys More Than 10 Su-30SM2 Fighter Jets for Strike Drills in Kaliningrad
Russia has deployed more than 10 Su-30SM2 multirole fighter jets from the Baltic Fleet’s naval aviation to the Kaliningrad region for military exercises simulating precision strikes against enemy targets.
According to Russian military reports, the drills involved simulated attacks on command posts, fortified defensive positions, and concentrations of armored vehicles. The exercises are intended to test the aircraft’s long-range strike capabilities, precision-guided weapons, and coordination with other military units.
Kaliningrad, a heavily militarized Russian exclave located between NATO members Poland and Lithuania, remains one of the most strategically significant regions in Europe. Military activity there is closely monitored due to its proximity to NATO territory.
The latest exercises come amid continued tensions between Russia and NATO over the war in Ukraine, with both sides increasing military readiness and conducting large-scale drills across Europe. Russia has described the exercises as routine combat training, while NATO continues to monitor military movements in the Baltic region.
