RUSSIA DIRECTLY TARGETS OFFICE OF UKRAINE’S ACTING SBU CHIEF

A Russian attack drone struck the central headquarters of Ukraine’s Security Service in the heart of Kyiv, directly targeting the office of acting SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad.

The SBU says Poklad was unharmed and that Russia failed to achieve its objective. At least 12 people were reportedly injured around the strike site, while nearby buildings—including structures belonging to the historic St. Sophia complex—were damaged.

This was not falling debris or an accidental impact. According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia deliberately attempted to strike the office of the official leading Ukraine’s primary domestic security and counterintelligence service.

President Zelensky said Poklad has been instructed to prepare an “appropriate, significant and, if possible, symmetrical” response. The SBU separately warned that Russia would receive a painful answer.

Moscow attempted to bring its war directly into the nerve center of Ukrainian security. It failed to eliminate its intended target—but Ukraine has made clear that the strike will not go unanswered.
