RUSSIA LAUNCHES 193 DRONES — HOMES HIT AND CIVILIANS INJURED ACROSS UKRAINE
Russia launched 193 drones against Ukraine overnight into 2 November, including 75 jet-powered Shaheds alongside conventional attack drones and decoys. Cloud cover may have helped conceal their approach, making visual detection and interception more difficult for Ukrainian defenders.
By 08:00 Kyiv time, air defence had destroyed or suppressed 154 drones, including 58 jet-powered models. Impacts were recorded at 26 locations, with debris falling at nine others. Some drones remained airborne as crews continued defending the skies.
In Vasyshcheve, Kharkiv region, a strike damaged a five-storey residential building, injuring 12 people, including a child. Rescuers freed two residents trapped in a top-floor apartment.
Four people were injured in Odesa and another elsewhere in the region. Homes, a gas pipeline and a garage were damaged in the city, while elsewhere a bakery was destroyed and warehouses caught fire.
Russian forces also attacked the Nikopol district nearly 30 times with drones and artillery, injuring a man. In Poltava region’s Kremenchuk district, a drone fell on private property, damaging four neighbouring houses and vehicles and injuring one person. A transport enterprise in Kirovohrad region caught fire following a strike; firefighters extinguished the blaze, with no casualties reported.
By morning, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv and several regions as the electricity network struggled with the consequences of Russian attacks. Ukrainian defenders stopped most of the incoming drones, but those that reached their targets left families injured, homes damaged and communities facing another day of disruption.
