Russia Targets Diesel Exports of Up to 3.5 Million Tonnes per Month by Year-End

Russia says it could increase diesel exports to between 3 million and 3.5 million metric tonnes per month by the end of 2026, potentially restoring shipments to levels seen before Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries disrupted supplies.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said the additional exports could help partially balance global supply and demand. He also claimed that diesel prices had already fallen by around 5–6%, although the broader impact of the agreement remains uncertain.

The projection follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement of an arrangement to release Russian diesel to global markets, with planned shipments of more than 300,000 tonnes initially, followed by 500,000 tonnes in November and 1 million tonnes in December.

Russia’s ability to reach the higher monthly target will depend on export capacity, refinery operations and market conditions. The projected 3–3.5 million tonnes represents a potential future rate, not confirmed deliveries under the current deal.
