RUSSIA WRAPS CASPIAN WARSHIP IN GIANT ANTI-DRONE NET
New imagery from Kaspiysk shows a Russian warship almost completely covered by protective netting—apparently intended to catch small attack drones or force their warheads to detonate before reaching the vessel.
From a distance, it resembles military-grade plastic wrap: Russia is trying to keep its warship fresh while Ukrainian drones hunt for another opening
Such netting may provide limited protection, but it is hardly an impenetrable shield. Larger drones can carry enough explosive power to tear through improvised barriers, while covering a vessel can obstruct visibility, sensors and weapons
The larger message is unmistakable. Even inside the Caspian Sea, far from Ukraine, Russia no longer considers its warships safe. A fleet once used to project power is increasingly hiding beneath cages, nets and improvised armor.
