A Russian court has ordered the transfer of 123 properties linked to the Jehovah’s Witnesses to state ownership.
The assets include dozens of buildings and land parcels that were previously registered under the group’s Swedish branch.
The move follows Russia’s 2017 decision to outlaw the Jehovah’s Witnesses as an extremist organization, a ruling that the European Court of Human Rights later declared unlawful in 2022.
Since the ban, many members of the religious group have been prosecuted and imprisoned on charges related to extremist activities.
