Russian Drone Strikes Passenger Train in Odesa Region, Killing Two
A Russian jet-powered drone struck the locomotive of a passenger train in Ukraine’s Odesa region, killing the train driver and his assistant.
The train was carrying around 340 passengers when the strike occurred.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the locomotive was a civilian target and that the drone operator could not have been unaware of the nature of the target.
The strike came during a wider overnight Russian drone campaign, with more than 130 attack drones reportedly launched against targets across 11 Ukrainian regions.
The attack caused casualties on a civilian railway route and further raised concerns over Russia’s continued use of long-range drones against infrastructure and civilian areas.
