RUSSIAN GERAN DRONE CRASHES ABOUT 100 METERS FROM A HOME IN MOLDOVA

A Russian Geran-type attack drone fell near the village of Chiștelnița in Moldova’s Telenești district, approximately 100 meters from a residential building.

A resident alerted police, who cordoned off the area to protect the local population while explosives specialists examined the wreckage. No injuries were reported.

President Maia Sandu condemned the airspace violation, saying the drone had fallen near homes and an energy facility. Moldova also announced the expulsion of a Russian diplomat following the incident.

For the people living nearby, Russia’s war came dangerously close to their doorstep. A drone reaching Moldovan territory creates an immediate threat even when it does not explode: residents must be kept away while specialists establish whether its warhead remains dangerous.

The incident is another reminder that the consequences of Russia’s attacks extend beyond Ukraine’s borders, endangering neighboring communities and forcing emergency services to respond.
