Russian Official Threatens Poland: “Warsaw Would Cease to Exist Within Two or Three Days”
Nikolai Patrushev, a senior Russian official and adviser to President Vladimir Putin, has threatened that Poland could cease to exist as a state within days if it entered into a direct military confrontation with Russia.
In an interview with the Russian newspaper Argumenty i Fakty, Patrushev said Moscow would use “the entire arsenal of forces and means” at its disposal if Poland went to war with Russia.
The remarks came after Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski told an audience in Kyiv that NATO could quickly defeat Russia if Moscow attacked the alliance. Sikorski highlighted NATO Europe’s airpower advantage, citing approximately 2,500 military aircraft.
Patrushev dismissed Sikorski’s assessment of Russia’s military capabilities as “amateurish” and claimed that Moscow had yet to deploy its full military potential in the war in Ukraine.
Poland, a NATO member since 1999, has been one of Ukraine’s strongest military and political supporters since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
The statements further highlight escalating tensions between Moscow and Warsaw amid the broader confrontation between Russia and NATO.
