🇷🇺 Russia’s Pacific Fleet Completes Major Military Exercise
Russia’s Pacific Fleet has concluded a large-scale military exercise involving approximately 13,000 personnel and 60 naval vessels, according to TASS and other Russian state media.
President Vladimir Putin observed the final phase of the drills from aboard the Varyag, a guided-missile cruiser.
No launches of Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) were reported during the exercise. The absence of such launches suggests that Russia’s strategic nuclear deterrence activities remained separate from the conventional naval maneuvers.
The drills come shortly after the Russia-China “Maritime Interaction-2026” joint naval exercises held in July, highlighting the growing military coordination between Moscow and Beijing in the Pacific.
The expanding cooperation has drawn increasing attention in Japan, which is closely monitoring the strengthening of Russian-Chinese military activities in the region.
The latest exercise underscores Russia’s continued focus on maintaining and demonstrating naval capabilities in the strategically important Pacific theater.
