Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Visit Egypt for Regional Security Talks
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is scheduled to travel to Cairo tomorrow, where he is expected to hold talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on regional security and growing threats in the Middle East.
The discussions are expected to focus on security in the Red Sea and the strategic Bab el-Mandeb strait, threats posed by Yemen’s Houthi movement, Iranian attacks targeting Gulf countries, and the potential impact of ongoing regional conflicts on the stability and security of the Middle East.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions across the region, with Saudi Arabia and Egypt facing growing concerns over maritime security, attacks on vital shipping routes, and the possibility of further regional escalation.
However, Egypt’s potential participation in the Mecca Defense Alliance is not expected to be on the agenda. The alliance, reportedly comprising Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan, does not currently include Egypt.
As a result, Cairo is not presently expected to join the defense agreement. Instead, the talks between President Sisi and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are likely to concentrate on broader regional security challenges, particularly the threats linked to Iran and the Houthis, as well as efforts to preserve stability in the Red Sea and the wider Middle East.
