SEAN TEMBO RETIRES FROM ACTIVE POLITICS

FORMER Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) president Sean Tembo has announced his retirement from active politics with immediate effect, following extensive consultations with his family and friends.

Mr Tembo said his decision followed careful consideration as he transitions into private life.

He announced his retirement on the same day that marks 10 years since he founded PeP, saying he remained proud of the political contributions he had made despite failing to secure election to public office during his decade in politics.

“Even though I did not succeed to be elected to any public office in the past 10 years, I stand proud of the political contributions that I have made thus far,” Mr Tembo said.

He highlighted the annual PeP Alternative National Budgets and his contribution to jurisprudence through political cases before the High Court and Constitutional Court of Zambia as some of his notable contributions.

Mr Tembo also expressed gratitude to the friends and acquaintances he had made throughout his political career, as well as those who believed in and supported his political journey.

“I am also thankful to those who believed in me and supported my political career over the years,” he said.

As he leaves active politics, Mr Tembo said he would continue praying for Zambia and its people.

“As I transition to a private life, I shall keep on praying for God the Almighty, to keep blessing our Nation, Zambia,” Mr Tembo said.

Mr Tembo was the former PeP president and contested the Roma Constituency parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in the 2026 general election.

Liberty House, 20th August 2026

1. After careful consideration and extensive consultations with family and friends, I have decided to retire from active politics with immediate effect.

Even though I did not succeed to be elected to any public office in the past 10 years, I stand proud of the political contributions that I have made thus far. Most notably, the annual PeP Alternative National Budgets, as well as extensive jurisprudence on political cases in the High Court and Constitutional Court of Zambia.

3. I am also grateful for the many friends and acquaintances that my political career allowed me to acquire, over the years. I am also thankful to those who believed in me and supported my political career over the years.

4. As I transition to a private life, I shall keep on praying for God the Almighty, to keep blessing our Nation, Zambia. Thank you.
