Second Indian vessel confirmed hit : dual attack escalates Hormuz tensions
Two Indian-flagged vessels have now been confirmed targeted in the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a sharper escalation in the situation.
The first tanker, Sanmar Herald, was fired upon by forces linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps while en route to India.
A second vessel, Jag Arnav, a general cargo and chemical carrier, was struck by an unknown projectile, causing damage to containers but no fire or reported injuries.
Both vessels have safely withdrawn from the area, but the incident has triggered a strong diplomatic reaction.
The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a high-level protest and summoned Iran’s ambassador, underscoring rising tensions between the two sides.
The confirmed dual attack points to increasingly aggressive enforcement in the Strait of Hormuz, raising risks for all commercial shipping.
