SELF-DECEPTION: HICHILEMA’S HIRED CROWDS

Today, Mr Hakainde Hichilema is expected in Kitwe to officiate at the handover ceremony of Mopani Copper Mines to its new Strategic Equity Partner – International Resources Holding (IRH).

But reality has dawned on the UPND government and party leadership that they’re seriously struggling with support. The ground has shifted, and they’re extremely unpopular on the Copperbelt. This has put immense pressure on both the provincial administration and party leadership. Because whilst they want to impress and show Mr Hichilema that all is well on the ground, that the people of the Copperbelt are with him, the opposite is what is unfortunately true. People don’t want him. People are tired of his endless lies and stories. This has created panic amongst the party functionaries.

As such the provincial administration and the party leadership stayed awake throughout the night today mobilising and dispatching buses across the province to ferry people that have been hired to show solidarity and support for Mr Hichilema during today’s visit to the Copperbelt.

But then, this is not the first time such a fruitless exercise is being undertaken. A few weeks ago, Mr Hichilema was in Chipata, Eastern province to officiate at the Youth Day celebrations, and the provincial administration and the UPND leadership once again ferried people across the province, with some coming as far as Southern Province and Lusaka, to go and drum up support for Mr Hichilema at the event.

It is quite shocking to see a leadership that is always ready and willing to go to any length to exaggerate and distort reality, all in an effort to create a totally false impression of themselves and their capabilities. A leadership that is so morally run-down that it does not mind misleading itself and its supporters by creating a non-existent reality, which they both end up accepting as true, and eventually celebrate it with songs of praise and dances.

It’s incredible how Mr Hichilema and his league regime have become victims of their own propaganda. They’re now believing their own lies. They’re lost and in confusion! With the 2026 general election fast approaching, we wait to see how they’ll manage to transport and pay people across the country because the truth is, they’re not wanted anywhere in the country. They’re extremely unpopular!

And for the people on the Copperbelt, let them not be deceived. Inkumba ni nkumba nangu isambe shani, teti ichinje! This administration has made known to the Zambian people that the poor masses of this country are not anywhere near the equation and, as such, deserve no place, value, or respect from them. Their actions and attitude towards the people on the Copperbelt are there for all to see. Like we have always said, Mr Hichilema and his friends are here to protect mining transnational capital and not the working masses.

Just look at what is happening at KCM in Chingola. After all those speeches, songs of praise, and dances, is Chingola back on its feet? Are miners and suppliers well taken care of by KCM? Nothing! Yet this government wants to go on lying and make people believe that they’re committed to uplifting the living standards of the people on the Copperbelt.

Mr Hichilema and his administration are all about greed and wealth accumulation. But all this won’t end well. It shall soon catch up with them because Zambians are not fools. Already, the atmosphere is that of exhaustion. People are fatigued of his lies, inconsistency, and self-serving attitude. Let him know that this country is way too big than him, and so he must stop playing with people’s livelihoods and the country’s future.

  1. Sir , you are supposed to be a newsmaker, then other people write about you. As it is, you are just a journalist write way too much stories. It’s as if we were reading the Post Newspaper, where the managing Editor is writing most of the articles.

  2. We will still vote for him. He has come to Kitwe to hand over Mopani to a strategic partner and not for a rally. So, no need to hire cadres! These long and useless articles will not help you win elections Mr Membe

  3. All is not well on the copperbelt and it doesn’t need a genius to figure that out but what concerns me and am sure every genuine concerned Zambian is people like mmembe who always want to shoot down every effort government is doing to try and make things right, how can crowds honestly be of concern to this mmembe when life is now going to be meaningful on the copperbelt hence the occasion, give credit were it’s due, just don’t talk like parrot, your relevance is rapidly being eroded…..be sensible Mr mmembe.

  4. Who is the spokes person for this party? Its all about him, you can’t hear from the SG, deputy SG etc…. its all about him. He still a journalist not a politician.

  5. As many people have stated before, Mr. Mmembe is an expert at criticism, NOTHING ELSE!

My advice to him is that he should concentrate on explaining how the Socialist Party intends to do things differently to address the many challenges we are facing.

  6. This is what we call paradoxical thinking, even when you combine two thoughts or ideas from a paradoxical thinker, they still don’t make any sense at all, I am sure that is what M’membe is. Because he has no where to take his shame, he is insinuating that the ground has shifted and people no longer like HH. He goes further by saying that the people we see welcoming him are hired crowds. But what M’membe forgets is that people are now more jagged up than before, they don’t follow someone foolishly and easily because they make their own independent and informed decisions. Which foolish person can say that he doesn’t like HH and yet he agrees or accepts to be hired? Maybe M’membe himself. If people don’t like HH, even if you try to hire them, they can’t agree. Ati the ground has shifted, shifted to where? Do you think people can leave the hard working HH who has done a lot for them and come to you who has done nothing for them? Your friend is working but your job is just writing long useless articles everyday. Being the father and mother of hatred for HH, you are very bitter and ashamed to see the massive support HH is getting from all the ten provinces of Zambia. I know that the overwhelming crowds that welcome him wherever he goes make you sick and more bitter and more jealousy. You should even stop watching him because one day you end up collapsing with BP. You and your fellow haters are always praying hard that the people of Zambia should rise against hh’s government even before 2026, but to your disappointment, things are not going the way you thought or wanted them to go. The majority of Zambians are behind HH and know that they have the right person in the driving seat. In 2021, HH won six Provinces and not not three that some haters are alleging. Despite having fewer MPs, HH won Copperbelt, he got 420,443 followed by ECL who got 300,413, so if M’membe thinks Copperbelt is a Province where HH needs to hire people, then he should think again. If the ground has shifted, where does he think all these people have gone? Certainly not to him or to ECL whom they already rejected in 2021. They know that there is nothing to go for in PF now, that’s why you have Antonio Mwanzas and Brian Hapundas in SP. HH is the Republican President and UPND party president and popular as he is, no genuine party official or cadre can remain in Ndola, Luanshya, Mufulira, Kalulushi and Kitwe itself when their President is landing at SMK international airport. Just at the airport there, the crowds are massive because even Chambeshi, Chingola, C/bombwe and Solwezi all come there. So M’membe should stop deceiving himself and the people, there is no ground that has shifted because as at now there is no reason to shift and there is nowhere it can shift to. If anything, HH is even more popular now and can accrue more votes than he did in 2021 if elections were held today. So continue dreaming and your wishful thinking, they won’t change anything.

    • Just to add on to your well articulated rebuttal
HH7 was denied campaigning in the Copperbelt Province by ECL but he won massively ba Fred and your minions if you have forgotten
Indeed if people don’t like HH7 why should they agree to be forced to attend his meetings even at gunpoint?

  7. I have not even read this shit. Besides, it is long from this newspaper reporter. I don’t waste my time on such shit when real news is there in BLOONGBERG AND OTHERS.

    • I thought I was the only one who don’t read Mr. Mmembe’s articles. They are very predictable and unnecessarily long. For someone who is a qualified journalist, I would have thought he would have known that the best way to engage an audience is not to bore them with irrelevant stuff but alas he does the exact things which disengage the audience. Unfortunately for him, it seem to be too late for him to change.

  8. I did not realize Dr. M’membe can get so petty. If UPND are hiring crowds why should it bother you? The reality will catch up with them, so why are you sweating blood and getting all worked up?

Ba M’membe, you won’t grow your party by incessantly sniping at HH. What we voters want to hear is how you will get us out of the economic quagmire we are in, not HH this and HH that day in day out.
