SIMUUWE SAYS TWO-TERM LIMIT FORCES USELESS LEADERS TO BECOME PRESIDENTS

UPND media director Mark Simuuwe says removing two-term limit for the Presidency will prevent “useless leaders” from becoming Republican Presidents.

Simuuwe said it not harmful that Zambia wants to emulate other countries that have discarded the two-term Presidential limit, allowing incumbents to remain in power in perpetuity.

…this is not about HH; it is about those like myself and many others that may believe that this will cure a debate that we have had for many years – we have had situations where because you’re lacking a leader, you flash out the best leader because of two terms, you end up with a very useless leader. So, if people still want that quality leader, they would still maintain that person,” Simuuwe said.

“Our colleagues in other countries are changing. So, it is not harmful that we’re moving in the direction of what other countries are doing.”

  1. Totally useless individual this Simuuwe. What makes you think Mr. Hichilema is the embodiment of perfect leadership in Zambia? There are thousands of Zambians who can perform better than Mr. Hichilema given the chance.

Mr. Hichilema will serve up to 2031 as per mandate we gave him. It will be foolish for him to reach for a third term and beyond. It will only end in tears.

If UPND don’t have a suitable replacement, that is their problem. They should not turn it into a universal crisis and try to tinker with our constitution to facilitate his prolonged stay beyond 2031.

A good leader makes himself irrelevant. A poor leader tries to make himself indispensable.
