“SORRY ZAMBIA FOR BRINGING YOU HICHILEMA,” CHIZYUKA SAYS AS HE ENDORSES MUNDUBILE AT SOUTHERN PROVINCE VIRTURAL RALLY
I apologize to Honourable Sakwiba Sikota, Western Province and the entire nation for introducing Hakainde Hichilema as acting President of UPND in 2006, when Mr. Sikota was actually the acting President of the party at the time – Major Chizyuka.
LUSAKA – Former Namwala Member of Parliament and one of the founding figures of the United Party for National Development (UPND), Major Robbie Chizyuka, has apologised to Zambians for his role in bringing President Hakainde Hichilema into national politics.
Chizyuka made the remarks during a virtual campaign rally organised by the NRP-UP presidential campaign for Southern Province this afternoon, where he endorsed Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu ahead of Thursday’s August 13 general elections.
Chizyuka said that when the UPND was looking for a successor to its founding president Anderson Mazoka following his death in 2006, he and others considered Hichilema largely because of his financial capacity.
He said, with hindsight, he should have considered other factors before supporting Hichilema to take over the leadership of the party.
“I want to apologise to the people of Zambia for bringing Hichilema,” Chizyuka said during the Southern province virtual rally.
He also apologised to Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Chairperson Sakwiba Sikota, who was then UPND Vice-President and whom Chizyuka said should have succeeded Mazoka.
Chizyuka’s intervention represents a significant political endorsement for Mundubile, particularly because of his history within the UPND and his association with the party during its formative years.
Madyekuku also endorses Mundubile
Veteran politician Syache Madyekuku, a former Cabinet Minister under President Frederick Chiluba and former Member of Parliament for Sinazongwe, also endorsed Mundubile during the virtual rally.
Madyekuku was among political figures who played a role in the political developments that eventually saw Hichilema take over the UPND leadership in 2006.
His endorsement of Mundubile adds another veteran political voice from Southern Province to the NRP-UP campaign, which has been attempting to break the UPND’s traditional dominance in the province.
Businessman and Cuundu Culture Chairman Innocent Matyola also endorsed the Mundubile-Makebi ticket.
Matyola appealed to voters in Southern Province to “move with the rest of the country”, arguing that the province should not remain politically isolated.
He accused the current leadership of benefiting Hichilema and a small group of people at the expense of ordinary UPND members and the wider population.

Of all the provinces in Zambia, Mundubile chooses only Southern Province to be addressed from afar. You have treated them like lepers by dealing with them at arm’s length. You have finally shown that you can never be President for all Zambians, especially with people like tribal Kambwili within your ranks
Am afraid you have just driven the last naii in the coffin of support for NUPP in that province.Very bad move, bwana
@MuZambian shame on you. You almost killed Gary Nkombo and everyone knows you are waiting for Brian Mundubile the greatest threat to HH he never saw coming. Just start packing your bags the landlord is here. What is the First Lady Mutinta with her children doing here in my county in Chelsea? Mwalanya mwalalapila, you thought Zambians bakubelesha. They removed Dr Kaunda after being in power for 27 years when he built everything that we call Zambian today. What about HH who has only built toilets and shamelessly the entire President going to commission a project that should be commissioned by a Ward Councillor ? You never saw this coming and that’s why you said there is no opposition in Zambia. And now you are arresting everyone that is wassociated with Mundubile. When the late Michael Sata referred to UPND as the under 5 political party , this is what we are witnessing today. Zambians have resolved , Zambians will never be lied to again by a group of Professional Pompwes and criminals ready and willing to shed blood in order to stay in power. Zambia and Zambia alone is bigger than all and we shall prevail triumphantly over the tyranny of HH who is so heartless that he refuses his predecessor medical treatment abroad, when he dies he wants to preside of the funeral and when the family refuses the Mighty HH King Nebbcadnezzer rushes to court , while the court is still deciding , the mighty HH King Nebbcadnezzer goes a step further and steals the body of his predecessor from a South African mortuary and performs a criminal and secret postmortem. This is total darkness fighting against light; and light prevailed, light has prevailed and light will prevail to God’s glory and the almighty king Nebbcadnezzer will be humiliated and humbled before the Zambian people and before the world to show that there is a God in heaven who watches over the earth and over the great land of Zambia. LING LIVE ZAMBIA, LONG LIVE THE GREAT PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA AND LONG LIVE BRIAN M MUNDUBILE
Aah! Kanabesa so you are shouting very loud but very far and safe from “my County Chelsea” in England? If this country goes up in flames after Thursday, which it WILL NOT, you are safely tacked away in “County Chelsea”, clever man indeed! I thought you are writing from Chawama in Zambia. Voting is just 2 days away, please get on the next Plane at Heathrow Airport to Zambia to vote, instead of blowing “hot air” in other people’s country.
Exactly…sancho vely vely march…
