South Korea’s president has called for a new era of peaceful coexistence between North and South Korea, urging an end to decades of confrontation on the Korean Peninsula.

He called on North Korea to immediately halt the further development of its nuclear weapons program and gradually dismantle the nuclear capabilities it has already built.

The South Korean president also said Seoul could help facilitate dialogue between North Korea and the United States in an effort to reduce tensions and establish lasting peace.

He emphasized that the time has come for the two Koreas to move beyond confrontation and work toward a more peaceful and stable relationship.
