SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT JOSEPH LUNGU URGES CIVIL SERVANTS TO VOTE WISELY AFTER MUNDUBILE’S JOB LOSS WARNING
By Elesani Phiri
Special Assistant to the President for Policy Compliance Joseph Lungu has urged civil servants across the country to take seriously the warning by Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance Presidential Candidate Brian Mundubile over alleged partisan conduct, saying they should make wise decisions when voting or risk losing their jobs.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Lungu says Mr. Mundubile’s position that dismissing individuals in the civil service would be within his constitutional powers if elected president should serve as a wake-up call for public workers when deciding who to vote for in the general elections.
Mr. Lungu’s remarks follow Mr. Mundubile’s ultimatum to civil servants actively campaigning for the ruling UPND to change their conduct within one month or risk being replaced if he assumes office
He has also dismissed allegations that some permanent secretaries are campaigning for President Hakainde Hichilema while carrying out their official duties, saying they are simply executing their responsibilities
Mr. Lungu has further rejected claims that ministry of information and media permanent secretary Thabo Kawana has been conducting his duties in a partisan manner, saying Mr. Kawana is acting in his capacity as head of the ministry.
